FAQ’s

How much do you charge?

This will very much depend on your requirements and how many hours the band will be required for. Our standard fee for special events is £1200.  This includes;

  • travel to and from the venue (based upon up to 40miles)
  • Set up and breakdown before and after the performance. 
  • 2 x 60 minute sets.
  • Music through the PA system if required between sets.

This rate is subject to increase if you require a longer performance, an earlier than normal set up or if you are more than 40 miles away from Reading. 

How long have you been performing together?

Evolution have been together for over 5 years and performed over 80 gigs.

How often do you play?

We try to limit ourselves to 2/3 gigs a month as we find this keeps us fresh and excited about performing and full of energy for each and every event.

How much space do you need?

We are a 5 piece band and can fit into a space approx 4m x 3m if required, however as we love to dance along with the crowd a larger areas is always welcome. 2 x standard electrical sockets is required as a minimum. We have a large rectangular backdrop banner and two smaller stand banners for venues where space is limited. Stage lighting is also included.

How long will you play for?

Most customers ask us to play 2 x 60minute sets with a break (around 30minutes) between the sets. However, we can tailor out timings to suit your event.

Will you be the band personally be playing at our wedding? Which band members should we expect?

Yes, we always aim to gig with the full band, if however we find ourselves requiring someone to stand in due to unavailability or illness we have a number of other quality musicians we can call upon to ensure your occasion runs smoothly.

What sort of music do you play?

Evolution are a function/party band meaning we choose popular songs from across the decades to ensure everyone will be able to sing along and dance all night. We specialise in Weddings, Corporate events and parties to make your event a memorable one for years to come.

Can I hear your music or a see video from a prior wedding where you performed?

We have a few demo tracks on the website and also have a couple of video clips of Evolution in action to give you an idea of what we are like.

Do you have a music library or song list? What genres can you cover?

We have a song list on our website which is split into genres to help you find what you like straight away.

Do you have a go-to list of wedding songs you play or perform for weddings?

We have a couple of sets specifically designed for weddings and special occasions in that they are geared towards a wide age group to make sure there is something for everyone.  We encourage you to peruse the song list and let us know if there are any particular favourites you’d like us to play or learn to help us tailor your event to you.

How do you keep your music collection up-to-date?

We are always adding new songs and currently feature songs by artists such as; The Weekend, Calvin Harris, David Guetta and George Ezra. We’ve also just added some more 80’s tracks to our playlist to ensure we have something for everyone.

What music will be provided during the breaks?

We are happy to provide music before we start, during the break and if require after our sets through our PA system.  If you wish, you can create a playlist of your choice that we can play instead.

Do you act as the MC and make all of the announcements?

We can do if you like but we normally leave that to the Master of Ceremonies or whoever else is organising the event.  We are more than happy to make brief announcements if required (eg. Buffet is served/last orders at the bar).

Do you take requests from our guests?

We can take requests for songs we know providing we know it and it’s in keeping with the event.  We find it’s best not to play a slow number when the party is in full swing and the dancefloor is full.

Can we submit a “Do Not Play” list?

You are welcome to give us a ‘Do Not Play’ list which means that even if a guest requests a song you detest, we wouldn’t play it!

19. When will I receive a written contract?

Once we have had a meeting to outline your requirements we will email you our Pro Forma to complete and return to us with a 10% deposit.  This guarantees your booking.

20. When do I need to pay the balance?

The balance is due on the day of the event.  Preferably prior to the performance.  This can be done by BACS transfer.  Alternatively, we can accept cash on our arrival at the venue.

What is your refund/cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel your booking for any reason, the return of your deposit is entirely at the discretion of the band.   However, if we are able to obtain another booking on that date we generally return the deposit.

Are you insured?

Evolution hold public liability insurance of 5 million pounds. Most venues will request this. All our equipment have electrical safety certificates through annual PAT testing.

What time will you arrive at the site and when you will you depart?

We need between 1.5-2hrs to unload all of the equipment, set up and then sound check before we start.  For the breakdown, approximately 1 hour.  If there is no DJ and you want to continue to play music through the PA after our scheduled finish time, there is an extra charge.

When is our deadline for submitting our music requests and event details?

Ideally, you will give us your music requests as soon as you know them, but at least 4 weeks before the event.

What will you wear to our event?

Evolution always dress for the occasion. We can fit in with a theme of your choosing or select from a number of co-ordinated and classy outfits we have worn over the years.

How can we look after you?

Due to the length time we are often at venues (sometimes 7 hours or more) soft drinks and snacks are always welcome. If possible, an area to get changed and prepare would be ideal.
